VW ECU REMAP CHIP TUNING SPECIALISTS

VW Golf GTI & Golf R

Our experience remapping, modifying,  ECU chip tuning and upgrading VW cars goes back to the 1990’s and continues to the present. The first ECU chip upgrades we did were for the then new VW Golf VR6 and the later Mk4 Golf GTI 1.8T. Both cars responded well to the right ECU tuning inputs, especially the 1.8T in the GTI when combined with a turbo back Milltek exhaust and stage 2 tuning. The popularity and demand for performance upgrades on the GTI models increased hugely.

When the Mk5 and Mk6 Golf came along this was a dream situation for tuners with cars like the Mk5 & Mk6 Golf GTI, R32 and the powerful Mk6 Golf R with 2.0 TFSI engine making 270hp.

The Golf 5 GTI 2.0 TFSI engine was (and is) able to be performance tuned to even higher power. The Golf 6 GTI came with a little more stock power and this version of the 2.0 TFSI is able to be tuned to even higher outputs making it a favourite among enthusiasts even today. The Mk6 Golf R took this to much higher levels and Golf R engine is a gem that is able to be safely tuned to very high power.

The Mk7 Golf is probably the best so far with its multilink rear suspension and great steering; the Mk7 GTI and R are considered better than the later Golf Mk8 according to most testers. And we have found the same when chip tuning and remapping the Golf Mk7 and Golf Mk7.5 – the 2.0TSI in the GTI and Mk7 Golf R are so responsive to ECU tuning that the 7.5 GTI can be tuned to nearly 300hp and 440Nm with a simple correctly applied stage 1 tuning. The Mk7 Golf R engine is brilliant and works extremely well with the right ECU tuning, making 370hp and 500Nm with corrected stage 1 tuning and up to 385hp and 515Nm with a stage 2 tuning upgrade (results based on Golf R Mk7.5).

VW Touareg, VW Amarok & TDI ECU tuning

Meanwhile Volkswagen’s fleet has been expanding to include the excellent VW Amarok and Touareg models with 4 cylinder 2.0 BiTDI, 3.0 TDI V6 and 8 cylinder 4.2 and 4.0 TDI engines that are massively tuneable with huge torque and excellent economy improvements. These engines represent the bread and butter of our diesel ECU tuning and as a result we have spent a virtual lifetime developing TDI tuning packages to achieve reliable, economical and significant performance gains that are truly impressive.

What we have learnt from our chip tuning work on the GTI, R and TDI models has been applied to improve the quality of our tuning for the rest of the VW range. Models like the VW T5, T6 Multivan as well as the Polo GTI, Arteon and VW Caddy are catered for with customised remap tuning packages with significant performance increases.
